O5BM – Over 50s Black Men Forum

A non-profit community of Black Men aged 50 and over, who are taking a leading role in helping themselves and supporting each other in identifying and addressing issues of concern to them, such as fear of isolation, loneliness, health, job security and the anxiety of ageing.

This demography of black men is often marginalised and unsupported due to the erroneous stereotype of either the ‘strong black man’ or the ‘absent father’.

Since our formation in 2018, we have served as a focal point for our community to come together, share ideas, learn together, mentor and support one another. We provide support through a variety of activities (health education, physical activities, peer to peer support etc.) that helps address the challenges faced by the double jeopardy of ethnic inequalities (economic, financial & social) and ageism.

We have created this platform to enable our community to deliver the support and services that is required to help reduce Health, Economic and Social inequalities, as well as help in responding to issues and concerns of the over 50s black male community in the UK.
